Social Web
As an early adopting geek, I have accumulated a large collection of logins to several dozen different sites, most of which won't be around in 3 years. But there are survivors, some against all odds. Here is a small collection of site I am a part of. These are chosen because they were part of a couple nice icon sets that I found, and they fit the color scheme for the rest of the site. Click over to my profiles and add me as a friend.

Delicious was one of the first on the scene to socially share things on the web. I try to use it for the best of the bookmarks that I find. This tends to get accomplished periodically as I clean up my Firefox bookmarks, deleting everything, but saving the gems here. My profile. -

Digg is THE place to get mass traffic virally. Of course, that says nothing about the quality of that traffic. I rarely use it solely because of the idiots in the comment sections, but when I do share something there, you can bet that there's a pretty good reason why. My profile. -

Facebook. You've probably heard of it. You may know them from their popularity. Some of us look at them and and remember that they're cash flow positive. Facebook is in a prime position to run the web for the next decade. My profile. -

Flickr is fantastic! Sure you could share pictures on Facebook, but Flickr is built for that sole purpose. It's just better at it. That being said, I need to get caught up. Life got busy, now I have a 2 year backlog of pictures that need to get on there. My profile. -

Friendfeed is wonderfully innovative, always pushing the boundaries of the 'real time web.' That's why Facebook stopped copying from them and bought them instead. I don't spend nearly enough time there. I need better 3rd party tools to massage it into my workf low. My profile. -

Linkedin is another site I need to invest a lot more time into than I do. A growing community of professionals, helping each other out in a variety of ways, it has already helped me to land a cushy job. Sadly, most of the people I work with aren't anywhere near Linkedin, much less leaving me recommendations there. My profile. -

Mixx has given me the best results for the time and energy I've put into it amongst link sharing sites. But I feel like I'm being gamed. People follow me, I return the follow, then within a few hours they follow me again. I don't have time to deal with that, so Mixx and I are spending some time apart. My profile. -

MySpace is still alive, somehow. Yes I have a profile there. But I only established it in an attempt to find out why people still use it. I still don't know why. Nevertheless, I check in on it 2 to 4 (tops) times a year. My profile. -

Reddit seems to be known for smart people. I haven't spent much time in the comments there, but I've NEVER heard anything contradicting that people using it are of higher intelligence. I use this more rarely than Digg though, so very few links from me here. My profile. -

Stumbleupon has helped me kill off many hours. Those hours provided a lot of entertainment, a ton of learning, and showed me why tabs are a necessity while using the internet. It's hit and miss for your own stuff though. You may get a regular visitor after being stumbled, but only after 1,000 pass by, never to return again. My profile. -

Technorati seems to be the blogger haven that could have been. They once dominated the blogging landscape as THE resource for what was hot in the blogosphere. But after losing their edge, they keep trying new things, hoping something will stick and they'll survive. My profile. -

Twitter is the single biggest life changer in this whole list. The people I've met, the things I've learned, the early access I've gained, the jobs I've gotten, the connections I've made, it's all been quite wonderful. A little bit of time every day will go a long way to helping you with a large variety of things in your life. You just have to follow the right people. My profile.
